Keeping your Pocket Watch Clean and Shiny!
The best way to keep your pocket watch clean is to follow the instructions in the manual as best as you can. If your watch did not come with a manual, it will be good for you to research the watch on the internet for any possible cleaning recommendations that they offer. Another good way to ensure that you can keep your watch in top shape is to take it to a professional cleaners as they will have all of the proper tools and solutions needed to perform the detailed work. However, if you decide to take your pocket watch to a professional cleaner, make sure to research various cleaners as this process may be costly. A good watch will need a professional cleaning every 3-5 years so that a professional repairman or cleaner can make sure to get into all of the grooves and little mechanisms inside. This will allow your pocket watch to remain in like-new condition and will also ensure that you are keeping accurate time.
You will want to keep your pocket watch polished as regularly as possible. You will also want to use a very soft cloth to make sure that it watch does not get scratched. You may want to develop a habit of polishing it by going over it smoothly with a soft cloth before you store it away after you are done wearing it.
